Bangladesh Bans Plastic Bags

Posted on Mon, 06/08/2009 - 19:14

In Bangladesh, plastic bags have been banned completely since early 2002.

Bangladesh discovered that plastic bags were choking the countries drainage system, which led to widespread flooding throughout the country in 1988 and 1998.

Additionally, the countries’ agriculture was suffering as more and more livestock ingested plastic bags. It was estimated that the residents of Dhaka were throwing away 9.3 million plastic bags per day.
