Its Earth Day! At ConservingNow, we wanted to take a moment and look back over these last seven months. Since we launched the site in August, ConservingNow has developed a passionate and dedicated community of over 50,000 members. Just think for a moment about that – we estimate that average American uses 500 bags per year – this means that ConservingNow’s community of static cling users has kept over 25 MILLION plastic bags out of our landfills, gutters and oceans. That’s 25 MILLION less bags to see on the side of the road as we drive about to do our daily errands. 25 million is a great number but we aren’t finished yet. Not even close. These numbers are so incredibly inspiring that we can’t wait to talk with your friends, family and co-workers and get them to join our community as well!
In addition to our individual community members, ConservingNow is proud to have partnered with so many different organizations. Everyday we are contacted by the most diverse, yet passionate individuals who are determined to share our mission with their organization and/or members. We have done what we can to work with these organizations, whether large or small, because we are committed to turning 25 million into 25 billion and then 25 trillion.
And schools. All that work that our community members are doing is so incredibly important. They are making a choice to set an example for the future generation that plastic bags are a choice. And a toxic one at that. Since August, ConservingNow has supported dozens of classrooms with our teaching kits and curriculum. The feedback we have received has been incredible. Not only are the teachers enjoying the lessons, the students are having a great time learn about caring for the planet and the dangers of plastic bags. I know that the future of our planet is in good hands and I couldn’t be prouder that we are able to partner with them.
Our goal is to work tirelessly until plastic bags are no longer commonplace. Thank you for joining us. We have been richly rewarded by your dedication and passion to this issue. Here’s to making Earth Day – Earth Year. Every year.
