Kingston celebrates Plastic Bag Free Day on 12 September

Posted on Mon, 08/03/2009 - 17:52

"Businesses across Kingston have been urged to do their bit on the world's first plastic bag-free day.  Environmental campaigners have called on traders to advertise the event, on September 12, in their shop windows and only hand out long-life bags on the day.  Shoppers will be able to pick up a free cloth bag from a stall outside All Saints Church, in Kingston's Market Place, where they can also sign a petition against the use of the damaging carriers, throughout the day."

Kingston city leaders say they believe that citis and small town have to lead the way in helping their citizens reduce/stop their use of plastic bags!  This is so great to hear!  We will be watching Kingston and wishing their plastic bag free day great success!!
